Authorities in Lilongwe have arrested a man suspected of illegally flying a drone over the official residence of Vice President Jane Ansah, raising fresh concerns about security around her .

According to Richard Mveriwa, spokesperson for the Office of the Vice President, security personnel detected and intercepted a drone that had been hovering over the protected residence for an extended period late last night. The individual believed to be operating the device was promptly apprehended.
“The security team captured a drone that was flying over the vice president’s residence. The motive behind this act is still unknown,” Mveriwa said.
Both the suspect and the drone have since been handed over to police for further investigation.
