Security Breach at Vice President’s Residence : Drone Pilot Arrested Amid Pressure To Force VP To resign .

Authorities in Lilongwe have arrested a man suspected of illegally flying a drone over the official residence of Vice President Jane Ansah, raising fresh concerns about security around her .

Few days ago , cables reported that four individuals have been engineering plans to force Vice President to resign and cables reported how this pose a threat to the second in command in Malawi . According to Richard Mveriwa, spokesperson for the Office of the Vice President, security personnel detected and intercepted a drone that had been hovering over the protected residence for an extended period late last night. The individual believed to be operating the device was promptly apprehended.

“The security team captured a drone that was flying over the vice president’s residence. The motive behind this act is still unknown,” Mveriwa said.

Both the suspect and the drone have since been handed over to police for further investigation.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement detailing the identity of the suspect, possible charges, or whether the incident is linked to surveillance, negligence, or other motives.

This incident highlights increasing concerns over the safety of the Vice President amid pressure to force her to resign .

Unauthorized drone flights over Vice President residences or restricted zones are considered serious security violations due to potential risks ranging from espionage to physical threats.

Malawians deserve an answer on the intent behind the drone flight, whether the suspect acted alone, if If the drone captured any footage or data
