The government says it is waiting for a plane crash final report by the German investigators-BFU to commit the construction of a memorial tower at the site in Chikangawa and has no plans for instituting a commission of inquiry as demanded by Mary Chilima , widow to former Vice President Saulos Chilima who died in the plane crash with 8 others .
Government Chief Spokesperson, Moses Kunkuyu, says the final report will address that aspect in immortalizing the nine people, who were fatally injured including late Vice president Dr. Saulos Chilima.
Mary Chilima posted on her Facebook wall demanding an inquiry that can answer some of the questions Malawians have .
Last time, the government had indicated that it was consulting on calls by the Chilima family and others on the same.
“The next move shall be known after the inquiry has given its final report since in remembering the departed, the circumstances surrounding their deaths will always come to your mind,” he said.
There was no immediate reaction from the deceased families on the matter, but Parliamentarian Sameer Suleman, says the construction of the tower has nothing to do with the final report, apart from honoring the heroes.
