The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a senior resident magistrate and an auctioneer over the alleged illegal sale of a motor vehicle seized by the Office of the Sheriff in Mzuzu.
ACB has identified the suspects through a press release as Godfrey Nyirenda of Mchinji Magistrate’s Court and Praise Chimbilima Gondwe of Chimbilima Auctioneers and Estate Agents.
Nyirenda faces charges of misuse of office and giving false information to the ACB, as Gondwe will faces one count of giving false information in connection with the alleged sale.
According to the bureau the suspects are expected to appear in court on Friday, October 16, 2026, to be formally charged and take plea.
